We've Named the Homestead!

We've finally named the farm. Seems that if you have goats, you need a herd name. And if you're going to name a herd, seems like it should kind of follow the name of the farm. (I had no farm name.)

So after much deliberation, I'm pleased to announce our new homestead name...

It's kind of like when you give a mouse a cookie. One thing leads to another and after I named the farm, it seemed like a good idea to set up a website for it. Actually, it's just another blog, but I've set it up more like a website. I'll still be blogging right here like I always have! But if you want specific information on how we are managing our farm, photos, and such, you can see it by clicking the new link on the right sidebar any time you want (or for right now, click HERE).

Blessings!

I encourage you to check out the new Sweetwater Farm site often as I'll be adding to it regularly.

  1. I love the name Amy - dare I say it, what a sweet name! The name I chose for my blog was what we decided to call our property after much deliberation. This week I had to come up with a name for my new business (china cake stands) buy a domain name and create a facebook page after people kept asking me if I had a website. I just wasn't expecting it to take off so soon. And now I have business cards, bags and a logo to organize. All the names I liked were taken but thankfully the one I came up with was available and easy for people to remember. I'm glad you are keeping 'Homestead Revival' - it so aptly describes what your blog is all about!

  4. That's a great name. We've yet to name ours still...I've thought of many names thru the years but hubby never agrees. My blog name is not our homestead name although we've had people think so. We raise chickens and guineas mainly but I don't think that will play a part in naming.

  13. We talk about naming our house - haven't done it yet, but hope to someday soon. There is something about names that makes you feel even more that you belong. I just think it's a wonderful custom. Congrats on picking such a happy name.

  14. Congratulations on your lovely new farm name! It sounds perfectly idyllic :) I was lucky that our place has been called "Garland's Mountain" by family and friends for 60+ years, so ours was kind of a no-brainer. Who knows what we'd have come up with, left to our own devices! ;)

  16. I love it! We are toying with names ourselves. Our last name being Westad, I've jokingly called it the Homestad. However, with all the cedars around, particulary two very healthy and unobstructed ones in our far pasture, my husband has been more formally calling it Twin Cedars. We'll figure it out!
